“No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.” Aesop
Every person has the power to make a difference. Simple gestures of kindness turn into life changing moments at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS). At a difficult crossroads, a pair of pajamas and warm bed can bring the security that allows a victim of abuse to focus on planning for a safer future. A bicycle or train pass can mean the ability to secure employment and become independent. A child with a safe place to heal and learn means hope of breaking the cycle of violence for the next generation.
Your partnership and generosity helps the Crisis Center to provide these opportunities free of charge to our clients. The reality is we can’t do it without you! From diapers and sheets to funding of our 24-hour hotline, it takes our entire community pitching in to see the mission accomplished. In whatever way you choose to give, you can know that the benefits to our clients have ripple effects long into the future.

General Donations: Your support helps the Crisis Center continue to provide comprehensive services, free of charge to victims of abuse. To request giving envelopes for memorial services, please contact Shani Smith at (708) 429-7255 or email@example.com.
Work Place Giving: Many places of business have opportunities to support a local charity through employer matching donations, directed giving, United Way or employee giving campaigns. Ask your employer about sponsoring an event or hosting an employee “dress-down” day and donate the proceeds to CCSS. Or plan a donation drive to collect needed items for the shelter from our Wish List.
Major Gifts: Planned Giving: CCSS offers many gift opportunities that can be tailored to your specific financial and estate planning needs. Please contact Lorri Nagle at (708) 429-7255 Ex. 131 or firstname.lastname@example.org to start the conversation.
Physical Donations: CCSS accepts donations of new items from our Wish List directly to the shelter. Due to storage limitations we ask that gently used items be delivered to our Neat Repeats Resale stores. We bring donated items to the shelter on an as needed basis. Our clients are also able to shop at the stores free of charge. The stores are open to the public with proceeds coming back to CCSS to support our programs and services.
New Items/Wish List: CCSS is always in need of specific items to keep our shelter functioning smoothly such as diapers, personal care products and bedding. If you would like to provide an in-kind donation, please view our Wish List for our most needed items throughout the year. A list of immediate needs is available each month in our e-newsletter. To sign up for the e-newsletter enter your name and email at the bottom of this page.
Neat Repeats Resale: What if cleaning out your closets could make a difference in someone’s life? Donating your gently used items to one of Neat Repeats Resale stores can make a difference! Our clients are able to shop at our two Neat Repeats stores free of charge for clothing and other items. Stores are open to the public with the proceeds coming back to CCSS to support our programs and services. You can feel good knowing that your tax deductible donations make a difference by giving victims of abuse a fresh start. To learn more about donating or for store locations and hours, visit our Neat Repeats Resale page.
Furniture: Donations of furniture are only accepted on as needed basis and must be delivered to CCSS. Sorry we do not have pick up service available. Furniture must in good condition, free of stains, pet hair, smoke, tears or other damage. Please upload a photo of your items below and include your contact information. Someone from our office will contact you regarding your donation.
Cell Phones: Not sure what to do with your old cell phones? Donate them to the Crisis Center. We receive a portion of the monies that come from recycling of used smart phones, cell phones, iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macbooks to support our programming that helps stop violence in the home. You can drop off your cell phone donations at either of our Neat Repeats Resale stores located at 9028 W. 159th St, Orland Park or 6602 W. 111th St, Worth. Hours of operation: M, F, Sa 9am-4pm; T, W, Th 9am-8pm; Su 11am-4pm.
Community Events: Fundraise on behalf of CCSS. Collect pledges for an event that you are participating in, such as a run/walk, marathon, etc. (check out one donor’s quest to raise funds for domestic violence prevention). Give a percentage of your business proceeds for a day (i.e. Dine to Donate, percentage of orders for particular items, etc.). Host an event. Groups in the past and present have done cut-a-thons, motorcycle rides, art shows, etc. Be creative! Collect donations for a discount at your business (i.e. collect baby care items for 10% off or gently used clothing for a free item). Whatever your idea, give us a call and we can walk through the steps to help make your fundraiser a success. To learn more about how to host a community event visit our Community Events page.
Donation Drives: Interested in collecting items for CCSS? Hosting a donation drive is a great way to make an impact and raise awareness. You can choose items from our general Wish List, focus on more immediate needs or collect items centered around a theme (i.e. health and wellness, baby shower, pajama party, spring clean-up, etc.). To plan your donation drive and make arrangements for drop off, please contact Shani Smith at (708) 429-7255 or email@example.com.
Events: CCSS hosts four major events each year to raise awareness about domestic violence and funds to support our vital programs and services that help victims become survivors. Events are a great way to learn more about CCSS, introduce new friends to CCSS or just come out and have a great time while making a difference. To learn more about our events, sponsorship opportunities or get tickets to our next event visit our Events Page.
Memorial Walkway: Honor or memorialize an individual or organization by purchasing a brick for our Memorial Walkway for $150 per brick. Click on the link below to download the order form or call the Development Office for more information at (708) 429-7255.
